The Monsoon Session of Parliament witnessed a heated debate on the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, with the Opposition demanding accountability from the Central Government over the examination controversy.
Leading the Opposition’s attack, Rahul Gandhi praised students who protested against the alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination. Speaking during the debate, he said the protests reflected the determination of India’s youth to fight for fairness and transparency in the education system. He urged the government to take responsibility for the incident and ensure that deserving students are not affected by lapses in the examination process.
Opposition parties accused the government of failing to safeguard one of the country’s most important competitive examinations and demanded a detailed explanation of the steps being taken to prevent future paper leaks. They also called for stricter measures against those involved in examination malpractice and greater transparency in the conduct of national level entrance tests.
The government defended its handling of the issue, stating that investigating agencies have been directed to thoroughly probe the alleged paper leak and identify those responsible. Ministers informed Parliament that action would be taken against any individuals or organizations found involved in the malpractice and reiterated the government’s commitment to conducting fair and secure examinations.
The debate led to repeated interruptions in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, with members from the Opposition raising slogans and pressing for a broader discussion on examination reforms. Parliamentary proceedings were disrupted several times before normal business resumed.
The NEET-UG paper leak issue has sparked widespread concern among students, parents and educational institutions across the country, prompting calls for stronger safeguards, enhanced digital security, and stricter legal action to restore public confidence in India’s competitive examination system.
