The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday caught two treasury officials and a private person in connection with an alleged ₹2.5 lakh bribe demand at the Chevella Sub-Divisional Treasury Office in Rangareddy district.

According to ACB Press Note No. 136, Sub-Treasury Officer Madiga Laxmaiah (AO-1) and Assistant Treasury Officer Kavali Anuradha (AO-2) allegedly demanded ₹2.5 lakh from a complainant for an official favour. The ACB said the officials accepted a part payment of ₹1 lakh and were caught red-handed.

The ACB stated that Laxmaiah accepted ₹50,000 as his share from the complainant. On the instructions of Anuradha, private person Vadde Jangaiah alias Chinna (AO-3) allegedly accepted another ₹50,000.

According to the agency, the alleged bribe was sought as a reward for processing and forwarding the complainant’s suspension-period salary bills amounting to ₹23,25,390 and post-retirement pension adjustment arrears of ₹4,29,000.

The ACB said the entire tainted amount of ₹1 lakh was recovered from the possession of AO-1 and AO-3 at their instance.

The agency further alleged that the two officials had improperly and dishonestly performed their duties to obtain an undue advantage.

All three accused are being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The ACB said the case is under investigation.

The identity and details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.
