Osmania University has defended its examination valuation and revaluation system following concerns raised by students over significant changes in marks after revaluation of certain examination papers.
In an official clarification, the university stated that its evaluation process is conducted through a transparent and secure mechanism designed to ensure fairness and minimise errors. University authorities maintained that answer scripts are assessed according to established procedures and academic guidelines.
The clarification comes after reports of substantial variations in marks secured by some students following revaluation, particularly in law examinations. The developments prompted questions regarding the consistency of the evaluation process.
Responding to the concerns, university officials said that revaluation is an integral part of the examination system and provides students with an opportunity to seek a review of their answer scripts. According to the university, revisions in marks after revaluation do not necessarily indicate irregularities, as differences in academic assessment can occur within the prescribed framework.
At the same time, the university acknowledged the concerns raised by students and has reportedly sought explanations from the examination branch regarding the matter. Authorities have indicated that appropriate action will be taken if any procedural lapses or instances of negligence are identified during the review.
Osmania University reiterated its commitment to maintaining the credibility and integrity of its examination system. It also encouraged students with grievances related to their results to utilise the official mechanisms available for redressal.
As discussions continue over the issue, the university has assured stakeholders that it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring a fair evaluation process for all students.
