The Central Government has reportedly undertaken a comprehensive review of security arrangements and administrative protocols for major national level examinations, including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), amid growing concerns over exam integrity and management.
The review comes in the wake of controversies surrounding competitive examinations in recent years, including allegations related to question paper leaks, impersonation and irregularities in the conduct of recruitment and entrance tests. Officials are said to be assessing existing safeguards to ensure that future examinations are conducted in a Fair, Transparent and Secure manner.
According to reports, discussions have focused on strengthening coordination between examination authorities, law enforcement agencies, and state administrations. Measures under consideration include enhanced surveillance at examination centres, stricter verification of candidates’ identities, secure transportation and storage of question papers and the expanded use of technology to detect malpractice.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts NEET and several other national examinations, is expected to play a key role in implementing any revised protocols. Authorities have emphasized the importance of maintaining public confidence in the examination system, particularly given the high stakes involved for millions of students competing for admissions to professional courses.
Education experts have welcomed efforts to tighten security but stressed that reforms should also address broader issues such as exam planning, grievance redressal mechanisms, and timely communication with candidates.
Meanwhile, students and parents across the country continue to seek assurances that upcoming examinations will be conducted smoothly and without controversy. The Centre’s review is being viewed as part of a wider effort to strengthen the credibility and reliability of India’s examination framework.
