Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar visited two H-New constables who were injured while carrying out a drug enforcement operation in the city. The Commissioner met Constables N. Mahender Yadav and M. Vamsidhar at their homes in Langer Houz and Prashanth Nagar on Tuesday to inquire about their health and recovery.
During the visit, CP Sajjanar praised the constables for their courage and dedication while performing their duties. He encouraged them to stay strong and assured them that the Hyderabad City Police would provide all necessary support during their recovery. Task Force DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath also accompanied the Commissioner.
The incident occurred on July 26 during a drug related checking operation near Tilak Road in Abids. Acting on intelligence inputs, the H-New police team stopped a blue Maruti Baleno car. According to police, the driver attempted to escape by reversing the vehicle at high speed, hitting the officers.
Constable Mahender Yadav sustained serious injuries after the vehicle ran over his leg, while Constable Vamsidhar also suffered injuries in the incident. Both officers were treated at Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda and have since been discharged. They are currently recovering at home.
Police have registered a case at Abids Police Station against the driver, who fled the scene after the alleged attack. The accused remains absconding, and an investigation is underway.
