Ruchika Singh has received support from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) after a Zero FIR was registered against her over alleged objectionable remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The case has been transferred from Noida Police to Delhi Police for further investigation.

Ruchika Singh, a 25-year-old resident of Noida, came under legal scrutiny after a video of her making abusive remarks against the Prime Minister during the protest went viral on social media. Police registered a case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alleging that the remarks insulted the dignity of a constitutional office.

Defending Singh, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das questioned whether using offensive language during a protest should be treated as a criminal offence. He argued that while the language could be criticized, criminal prosecution over political speech raises concerns about freedom of expression.

CJP founder Dipke also criticized the FIR, asking whether similar legal action would be taken against individuals who allegedly use abusive language against political opponents. The party said the law should be applied equally, regardless of political affiliation.

The incident has sparked a wider debate over the balance between freedom of speech and legal limits on offensive expression. While critics have demanded strict action against Singh, her supporters argue that criminal charges over political speech could have broader implications for democratic dissent.

Delhi Police is continuing its investigation, and no final decision has been announced.
