The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has issued a three line whip to all its members in the Telangana Legislative Council, directing them to strictly follow the party’s instructions during the Council session scheduled for Tuesday, September 8.
The whip was issued by Desapathi Srinivas, BRS Whip in the Legislative Council, through an official communication dated September 7.
According to the notice, all BRS MLCs have been instructed to attend the Legislative Council session from 10:00 AM onwards and remain present throughout the proceedings until the House is adjourned.
The party has also directed its members to participate in discussions in accordance with the official policy and stand of the BRS.
The third and most important directive relates to voting. BRS MLCs have been instructed to vote in favour of the party’s official position on any Bill, Motion or voting matter that comes before the Council.
The party has warned that failure to comply with the three line whip would be treated as a violation of party discipline. The notice states that such non-compliance could lead to disqualification proceedings under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India, along with the relevant Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Council.
The issuance of the three-line whip indicates that the BRS leadership wants its members to maintain full attendance, coordination and voting discipline during the upcoming Council proceedings.
The Telangana Legislative Council session on September 8 is expected to witness discussions on several political and public issues, with the Opposition likely to raise questions concerning the functioning and policies of the state government.
