Lucknow: Three people were reportedly killed in a shooting following a car-parking dispute in the Saadatganj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, according to media reports.
The deceased were identified in published reports as Shivaji Tiwari, Shivendra Tiwari and Suyash Tiwari. The alleged shooter was identified as Rishabh Shukla.
According to media reports, police detained the suspect at the scene and recovered a pistol and four empty cartridges. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are subject to police investigation.
Political criticism over Uttar Pradesh law and order
- Following the incident, a social media post criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government over public safety and law and order. The post described Lucknow as unsafe and alleged that law and order problems were widespread across the state.
- It also criticised sections of the media for their coverage of the government’s performance. However, the post’s broader claims about conditions across all 75 districts have not been independently established by the reports reviewed.
Questions about public safety
- The incident has renewed discussion about public safety in the state capital. Establishing the full circumstances of the shooting, including the events leading up to it, will depend on the findings of the police investigation.
- A wider assessment of law and order in Uttar Pradesh would require verified crime statistics, district level information and official records, rather than relying on a single incident or viral social media commentary.
