TSRTC Resumes Bus Service from Charminar to Secunderabad

In a move welcomed by thousands of daily commuters, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has resumed the long-awaited Charminar–Secunderabad bus service, restoring a key public transport link between Hyderabad’s heritage hub and commercial center.

Long Awaited Connectivity Returns

The Charminar to Secunderabad bus route was one of the oldest and most popular in the city but had been suspended for several months due to Road Repairs, Traffic Congestion and Metro Construction works along key stretches. With improved road conditions and completed infrastructure works, TSRTC decided to bring the service back.

Route and Operation Details

  • Route Number: 8C/1
  • Service Type: Electric Bus (Eco-Friendly Fleet)
  • Operating Hours: 5:30 AM to 11:00 PM
  • Frequency: Every 15 minutes during rush hours
  • Major Stops: Charminar, Afzalgunj, Koti, Narayanguda, Chikkadpally, RTC Cross Roads, Musheerabad and Secunderabad Station

TSRTC announced that this route will operate entirely on electric buses as part of its commitment to clean and sustainable urban mobility.

Public and Officials Response

Passengers and local shopkeepers expressed gratitude for the restoration of the route. “It’s a blessing for old city commuters who depend on buses for affordable travel,” said Mohammed Arif, a daily traveler from Charminar.

On the occasion of the relaunch, TSRTC Regional Manager Smt. Sudha Pramila and Winter Utsav Mela Organiser Mirza Rafiq Baig congratulated the TSRTC staff for their dedicated service and efforts in reconnecting the old city to Secunderabad.

TSRTC’s Future Vision

TSRTC Managing Director Y Nagireddy stated that restoring this route was part of a broader plan to strengthen connectivity between historic and modern city zones.

“Public transport is the city’s lifeline. We aim to ensure every major area from heritage sites to IT hubs remains well connected with clean, efficient, and timely services,” he said.
