The conflict between the United States and Iran intensified on Sunday as a series of military strikes and explosions were reported across southern Iran and the Gulf region, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.

According to Iranian media, a telecommunications official was killed and two others were injured in an attack on Farur Island. Meanwhile, local officials reported that more than 10 enemy projectiles struck military targets on Qeshm Island, although no casualties were reported.

Powerful explosions were also reported in Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, with Iranian news agencies saying blasts were heard in multiple locations early Sunday.

US officials said the latest airstrikes targeted Iranian air defense systems and Revolutionary Guard speedboats near the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, Washington said the operation was aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping through one of the world’s most critical maritime trade routes.

Separately, reports indicated that Kuwait’s military was placed on high alert following border attacks and a drone strike on an offshore oil platform, highlighting growing concerns that the conflict could spread beyond Iran.

The latest developments come amid rapidly rising tensions in the Gulf, with governments closely monitoring the security situation. Analysts warn that any further escalation could threaten regional stability, disrupt global energy supplies, and increase risks to international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
