Suvendu Adhikari Warns TMC Leader Jahangir Khan

Suvendu Adhikari issued a strong warning to Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jahangir Khan ahead of the repoll scheduled for May 21 in the Falta Assembly constituency of West Bengal.

Addressing a public rally in Falta, Adhikari referred to Jahangir Khan as a “Notorious criminal” and declared that he would personally monitor the cases registered against him. In a sharp political remark, he said, “The so-called ‘Pushpa’ is now my responsibility” intensifying political tension ahead of the repoll.

The nickname “Pushpa” has reportedly been associated with Jahangir Khan in local political circles, while the Falta constituency has witnessed heightened political drama and allegations of intimidation during the election period.

The repoll in Falta was ordered after allegations of electoral irregularities, EVM tampering and obstruction of opposition voting surfaced during the earlier phase of polling. The Election Commission later scheduled fresh polling for May 21 following complaints related to democratic violations in the constituency.

During the rally, Adhikari assured voters that the re-poll would be conducted peacefully and appealed to BJP workers not to take the law into their own hands. He also claimed that the administration would ensure free and fair voting in the constituency.

The development comes amid escalating political tensions in West Bengal following the recent Assembly elections, with both BJP and TMC accusing each other of intimidation, violence and misuse of power in sensitive constituencies.
