The alert was issued through Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies. Residents were advised to remain calm, follow official safety instructions and move to a safe location if necessary.
Makkah, Jeddah and Taif were among the areas mentioned in reports about the emergency warning. The alert in Makkah attracted particular attention because of the importance of the holy city.
Nature of danger not disclosed
