Jamiat Ulama E Hind president Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani has raised concerns over what he described as the alleged targeting of Muslims and religious institutions in different parts of the country.
Speaking after an emergency meeting of the organisation’s National Executive Committee, Madani referred to incidents involving mob lynching, bulldozer action against properties, and disputes or action concerning mosques, dargahs, madrasas and other places of worship.
Madani said that while mistakes may occur in administrative or legal processes, people must continue to have access to constitutional and judicial remedies. He argued that denying such avenues could weaken public confidence in the rule of law.
According to Madani, developments of this nature are contributing to concern and anger among sections of the minority community. He also questioned the role of government and administrative authorities, alleging that inadequate action and failures in the justice system have contributed to the present situation.
The Jamiat’s emergency National Executive meeting discussed these issues and considered the organisation’s future course of action. Further details of the strategy discussed at the meeting were not immediately specified.
