Zaheerabad Town Police and the Telangana EAGLE Force have traced properties allegedly linked to the proceeds of an Alprazolam trafficking network, with the identified assets having an estimated market value of around ₹4 crore.
The action follows the arrest of accused Vishwanath Karbhari Shipankar in connection with an Alprazolam trafficking case registered at Zaheerabad Town Police Station in Sangareddy district.
According to the police, investigators had earlier seized 770 grams of Alprazolam, a Hyundai Creta car, three mobile phones and ₹7.5 lakh in cash. The case was registered as Cr.No.147/2025 under Sections 8(c) read with 22(c), 27(A) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Financial trail investigated
- As the investigation progressed, police and the EAGLE Force examined the financial transactions and property records connected with the accused and his relatives.
- Investigators examined documents including revenue records, sale deeds, property tax receipts, building permissions, registration certificates and purchase invoices to determine the ownership and financial links of the properties.
- Police said the identified immovable properties have a government-assessed value of approximately ₹1.40 crore, while their prevailing market value is estimated at around ₹4 crore.
Properties forfeited under NDPS Act
- Following the financial investigation and confirmation by the competent authority in Mumbai, the identified properties were forfeited on September 22, 2026, under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.
- The action forms part of the investigation into whether assets were acquired directly or indirectly through alleged proceeds from narcotics trafficking.
- The EAGLE Force said the investigation is focused not only on drug seizures but also on tracing the financial networks, assets and individuals connected with the illicit drug trade.
- Authorities have appealed to the public to report information related to the Procurement, Transportation, Storage, Sale, Distribution or financing of narcotic drugs.
