Iran Vows Not to Back Down as US Launches Strikes on Military Targets

Iranian Masoud Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Iran will not yield while its “dignity, land and soil” are being infringed upon, signaling a firm stance amid rising hostilities with the United States.

Pezeshkian’s remarks came after the United States confirmed that it had carried out overnight strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure near the Strait of Hormuz. According to U.S. officials, the attacks were conducted as a “self defense” measure following the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter operating in the region.

The U.S. Central Command stated that the strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, ground control stations and surveillance radar sites. Washington described the operation as a “proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression,” emphasizing that American forces remain prepared to defend their personnel and interests in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump said earlier that the Apache helicopter had been brought down while patrolling near the Strait of Hormuz. The two crew members aboard the aircraft were successfully rescued and were reported to be safe.

Iran, however, has strongly condemned the U.S. military action. President Pezeshkian stressed that the Iranian people would not compromise when it came to defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Iranian officials have warned that any further attacks would be met with a decisive response.

The latest developments mark a significant escalation in an already fragile regional situation. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route through which a substantial portion of the world’s oil supply passes, has repeatedly been at the center of tensions between Iran and the United States.

The exchange of strikes has raised international concerns about the possibility of a broader conflict in the Middle East. Global leaders have urged both sides to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic channels to prevent further instability in the region.

As the situation continues to evolve, analysts warn that prolonged confrontation could have implications not only for regional security but also for international energy markets and global trade.
