An international solidarity initiative known as the Palestine Convoy is traveling toward the occupied Palestinian territories to draw global attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank.
The convoy brings together more than 500 activists from 21 countries, who say they aim to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and call for greater international action to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Before continuing their journey, the participants gathered in Istanbul, Turkiye, where they organized public events, discussions and awareness campaigns to highlight conditions in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
During the event, several participants expressed the view that governments have not done enough to respond to the crisis. One participant said, “Governments have failed, and now it’s time for the people to fight for the freedom of Palestine” reflecting the views of some members of the convoy.
According to the organizers, the initiative is intended to be a peaceful solidarity campaign aimed at increasing global awareness and encouraging stronger humanitarian and diplomatic efforts. They said the convoy seeks to highlight the challenges faced by civilians affected by the conflict.
The initiative comes amid continued international concern over the conflict in Gaza, where governments, international organizations and humanitarian agencies have repeatedly called for increased humanitarian assistance, protection of civilians and renewed diplomatic efforts toward a lasting peace.
The convoy has received mixed reactions internationally. Supporters describe it as a humanitarian mission promoting solidarity with Palestinians, while critics argue that such initiatives can become politically sensitive amid the ongoing conflict.
