The Hyderabad City Police have launched an Artificial Intelligence based smart kiosk called ‘SETU’ as a pilot project at Mehdipatnam Police Station.
Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police V. C. Sajjanar, IPS, launched the facility on Friday. The initiative aims to make it easier for citizens to approach the police and register their grievances without hesitation or language barriers.
The ‘SETU’ kiosk is designed to act as a digital bridge between citizens and the police. Visitors can explain their complaints in the language they are comfortable with, while the AI system digitally records their statements.
The system also provides an immediate digital acknowledgment and information about the next steps in the complaint process.
Digital Tracking of Complaints
- One of the key features of ‘SETU’ is digital tracking. Each registered complaint will have a dedicated tracking system, allowing senior police officers to monitor the progress and action taken on the complaint.
- Police officials said the system can also reduce the time required for complaint registration at police stations, allowing personnel to focus more on crime prevention and investigations.
- Speaking at the launch, Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar said public welfare is a top priority of the policing system. He said citizens should be welcomed with respect and should feel confident from the moment they enter a police station.
- He explained that ‘SETU’, meaning “bridge”, is intended to strengthen trust between the public and the police through faster and more transparent services.
- The Commissioner said the pilot project at Mehdipatnam Police Station will be reviewed based on its results. If successful, the facility will be introduced in a phased manner at other police stations across Hyderabad.
- Police also appealed to citizens to use the facility and provide suggestions and feedback to improve the service.
- The launch event was attended by senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Tafseer Iqbal, DCP SMIT Avinash Kumar, DCP Golconda Zone J. Raghavendar Reddy, Additional DCP Krishna Gowd, ACP Srinivas, Mehdipatnam SHO Mallesh and others.
