Lallaguda Police have arrested five people in connection with the murder of a 26 year old man at Sai Nagar, Tukaramgate, Secunderabad.
According to police, the incident took place on September 13, 2026, at around 8:50 pm near a Ganesh mandapam in front of a house in the area.
The deceased was identified as Burugu Karthik, son of Chandra Shekar. Police said the murder was linked to a long standing personal dispute involving Karthik’s earlier assistance to Rajahmandry Karthik in his relationship and marriage with Bhanu Sri in 2023.
Police said tensions had continued between the two families over the issue, with earlier quarrels and alleged threats reported against the deceased.
What happened?
- According to the investigation, Karthik had a quarrel with members of the accused family at around 6:30 pm on September 13. He later returned to the area at around 8:50 pm along with his friends.
- Police said CCTV footage showed the accused coming out of their residence and confronting Karthik.
- Investigators allege that A-2, Gaddi Praveen Kumar, brought a knife from the house and handed it to A-1, Gaddi Madan Kumar. Police allege that Madan Kumar then attacked Karthik, while other accused persons also assaulted him.
- Karthik suffered serious injuries and was taken to Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad, where he was declared brought dead.
Five accused arrested
The accused were identified as:
- Gaddi Madan Kumar, 47
- Gaddi Praveen Kumar, 43
- Gaddi Sai Kumar, 41
- Gaddi Nagesh alias Nageshwar Rao, 52
- Gaddi Narsing Rao, 76
Police said all five are residents of Buddha Nagar, Tukaramgate, Secunderabad.
Four accused A-1, A-2, A-3 and A-5 were arrested on September 15 and produced before the court for judicial custody. A-4 was arrested on September 16 and was also being produced before the court for judicial custody.
Evidence recovered
- Police said they recovered a blood stained sharp edged knife allegedly used in the offence, along with a blood stained bamboo stick and other material from the scene.
- Clothes belonging to the deceased and a blood stained T-shirt allegedly belonging to A-1 were also secured as evidence.
- CCTV footage covering the incident and mobile phones of the accused were also collected as part of the investigation.
- A case was registered at Lallaguda Police Station under Section 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
Police warn against revenge attacks
- Hyderabad City Police have warned people against taking the law into their own hands following the murder.
- Police said any attempt to carry out revenge attacks, damage property, threaten the families of the accused or disturb public order will lead to legal action.
- Police also said social media platforms are being monitored and that action will be taken against those spreading provocative messages, encouraging violence or attempting to create tension in the locality.
- DCP Secunderabad Zone Ms. Rakshitha Krishna Murthy, IPS, said the police had acted swiftly in the murder case and stressed that justice would be pursued through the legal system.
