Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Additional Managing Director B. Ajith Reddy has directed officials to prepare new plans to further improve Metro services and enhance the overall travel experience for commuters across the city.
During a review meeting with senior HMRL officials, Ajith Reddy assessed the performance of the 69-km Phase-I Metro network, focusing on passenger amenities, last-mile connectivity, safety measures, parking facilities, station cleanliness and crowd management.
The Additional MD instructed officials to initiate discussions with manufacturers for the early procurement of additional Metro coaches to meet growing passenger demand. He also emphasized strengthening last-mile connectivity by expanding feeder services and coordinating with TSRTC and the Transport Department for seamless travel.
Ajith Reddy directed officials to improve and expand skywalks connected to Metro stations and coordinate with railway authorities to ensure smoother access between Metro and railway stations. He also called for station-specific improvement plans and announced that he would soon conduct field inspections to review station operations and maintenance.
The meeting also reviewed proposals for the Public Rapid Transit System (PRTS) in key IT and commercial hubs, including Hitec City, Raidurg, Gachibowli, Financial District, and Kondapur. Passenger safety measures and future Metro development plans were also discussed.
Senior HMRL officials from engineering, security, signalling and project divisions attended the review meeting.
