Telangana’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE Force), in coordination with the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Rajasthan, has apprehended three wanted/absconding accused linked to NDPS cases registered in Telangana.
According to an EAGLE Force press note, the accused were traced in Rajasthan and shifted to Telangana for further legal proceedings. The operation was carried out under the cooperation mechanism between the Telangana EAGLE Force and Rajasthan ANTF.
Police said investigations into narcotics cases in Telangana had identified alleged links to people operating from Rajasthan and suspected supply of substances including opium and MDMA to contacts in Hyderabad. EAGLE Force said it has been pursuing suspected suppliers and handlers outside Telangana through interstate coordination.
Three accused apprehended
- Jaykishan, 28, Rajasthan, was wanted in two cases. One case was registered at Meerpet Police Station in Hyderabad, involving the alleged seizure of 15 sachets of heroin, a motorcycle, ₹10,000 cash and three mobile phones. Another case was registered at Petbasheerabad Police Station in Cyberabad involving MDMA.
- Suresh, 30, from Pali, Rajasthan, was wanted in a Raidurgam Police Station case in Cyberabad. The case involved heroin, three cars and seven mobile phones, according to the police records cited in the press note. He was also named in a separate case registered in Pali, Rajasthan.
- Dinesh Kumar alias Dinesh Bhai, from Jalore, Rajasthan, was wanted in an HNPS/EAGLE Force case. Police records cited the seizure of 3.259 kg of opium, two cars and four mobile phones. Investigators identified him as a suspected key supplier in an opium-related case.
Telangana team travelled to Rajasthan
- A joint team of eight personnel from EAGLE Force, Hyderabad City Police and Cyberabad Police travelled to Rajasthan to coordinate with the Rajasthan ANTF and take custody of the accused. According to the press note, the team travelled for approximately 24 hours in a government 13 seater Urbania vehicle, supported by four drivers.
- Police also said identity verification was an important part of the operation. Inspector K. Hema Rani of the Technical Team and K. Narsing Rao, SHO of Hyderabad Narcotics Police Station, assisted in establishing and confirming the identities of the accused.
Earlier attempts had faced difficulties
- The press note said Telangana Police teams had faced difficulties during earlier attempts to trace the accused in Rajasthan, including an alleged incident involving live electric wires and another instance in which a police team was reportedly confronted by a large group of villagers.
- On an earlier visit, a Telangana Police team reportedly stayed in Rajasthan for around six days but could not apprehend the wanted accused. Renewed intelligence inputs and coordination with Rajasthan ANTF eventually led to the latest apprehensions.
- EAGLE Force said the operation demonstrates the importance of cooperation between specialised narcotics units across state borders in tracing suspected suppliers, handlers and other interstate links in drug cases.
