Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has ordered a Crime Investigation Department (CID) probe into the alleged encroachment of 74 acres of lake land, directing officials to conduct a comprehensive investigation and identify those responsible.
The court observed that allegations of large scale encroachment of valuable lake land require an independent and thorough inquiry. It also directed the CID to examine whether there was any negligence or collusion by public officials in allowing the alleged encroachments.
The investigation will include verification of land records, identification of individuals involved and scrutiny of the role of government officials. The CID has been asked to submit its findings before the court.
The order comes amid the High Court’s continued focus on protecting lakes and water bodies from illegal encroachments across Telangana.
The case is expected to play a significant role in strengthening action against illegal occupation of lake lands and ensuring accountability in land administration.
