New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has changed its planned programme for September 17 after Delhi Police reportedly denied permission for the Board’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar.
The AIMPLB had earlier announced that it would launch a nationwide “Constitution Bachao Sharia Bachao” campaign from September 17. The campaign focuses on issues including the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), religious freedom, Muslim personal law and constitutional rights.
Jantar Mantar Protest Not Permitted
- Delhi Police has reportedly not granted permission for the AIMPLB’s proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Following this, the Board changed its immediate programme in Delhi.
- AIMPLB representatives are expected to hold a press conference at the Press Club of India in New Delhi to launch the campaign.
- Therefore, the planned Jantar Mantar demonstration should not be reported as an authorised protest taking place there unless the authorities issue permission or the organisers announce a change.
What Is the AIMPLB Campaign?
