All Departments Directed to Work Together for Smooth Ganesh Immersion Procession in Hyderabad
A comprehensive inter departmental coordination meeting was held on Wednesday evening at Visvesvaraya Bhavan, Khairatabad, under the chairmanship of Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, to review preparations for the Ganesh festival, idol installations and the immersion procession in Hyderabad.
Senior officials from the Hyderabad Police, GHMC, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri and Future City Commissionerates attended the meeting. Representatives from HYDRAA, TSRTC, Fire Services, Information and Public Relations, Transport, Tourism, Health, Roads and Buildings, Electricity, Water Works, HMDA, Metro Rail, MMTS and other departments also participated.
The meeting focused on ensuring that the festival and immersion procession are conducted peacefully and safely, while preventing traffic problems, electrical hazards and other public safety issues.
CP Sajjanar Directs Preventive Measures
- CP V.C. Sajjanar directed all departments to work in close coordination and take preventive measures based on the experience of the past five years.
- Officials were instructed to immediately remove loose and hanging electricity, cable and internet wires along the procession routes. The police stressed that sufficient clearance must be maintained for the safe movement of Ganesh processions.
- The Commissioner also directed officials to ensure that Ganesh mandap organisers receive safe electricity connections as per regulations. Proper earthing and necessary approvals from the Electrical Inspectorate must be completed.
- Electricity officials were also asked to maintain continuous coordination with the police and inform the local police before carrying out power shutdowns or wire clearance operations.
Road and Nala Works to Be Completed Before Festival
- Officials were directed to complete ongoing road, nala and slab works along the main and feeder procession routes before September 14 or 15.
- The meeting also decided that no new road digging, drilling or cable laying works should be taken up until the Ganesh immersion process is completed.
- In view of ongoing Metro construction works in the Old City, officials were urged to speed up the shifting of electricity poles wherever required.
26 Medical Camps Planned
- Health and emergency arrangements were also discussed during the meeting.
- The Health Department was requested to establish 26 special medical camps across Hyderabad district. Dedicated medical camps will also be arranged in the Balapur area.
- The camps are expected to have ambulances and round the clock paramedical staff to respond to emergencies during the festival.
- HMWS & SB and GHMC officials were asked to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and maintain proper sanitation throughout the festival period.
Traffic and Transport Arrangements
- Officials were instructed to identify adequate parking and vehicle holding areas to manage traffic during the immersion procession.
- TSRTC and Transport Department officials were asked to arrange sufficient buses, goods vehicles and drivers as required for the festival.
- The police also directed concerned departments to submit shift wise details of static and mobile cranes, including operators, supervisors and maintenance teams, in advance.
Public Information and Major Idol Arrangements
- The meeting stressed the importance of keeping the public informed about important festival arrangements.
- Information such as the closing time of queues at major Ganesh idols, including Bada Ganesh, should be widely communicated through television ticker scrolls and press notifications.
- Officials were also asked to ensure that important traffic and procession-related information reaches the public in advance.
Special Transport Arrangements on September 25
- Special public transport arrangements are being planned for the final immersion day on September 25.
- According to the meeting, Metro Rail services are planned to operate until 1:00 AM on the final immersion day.
- Overnight MMTS train services are also planned to connect important stations, including Nampally, Lakdi ka pul, Khairatabad, Sanjeevaiah Park, James Street and Begumpet.
- The coordination meeting concluded with directions to all departments to maintain close communication and complete their respective preparations on time to ensure a safe, peaceful and smooth Ganesh festival and immersion procession across Hyderabad.
