In a major crackdown on fraud, the Hyderabad Commissionerate Task Force (Jubilee Hills Zone), in coordination with the Mughalpura Police, arrested a man for allegedly cheating people by issuing fake allotment orders under the Government’s 2BHK Dignity Housing Scheme.
The accused, identified as Syed Salman (27), allegedly posed as a person with links to government officials and promised to secure 2BHK houses for eligible beneficiaries. During the operation, police seized 52 forged allotment related documents along with one mobile phone used in the alleged fraud.
According to the police, the accused collected money from victims along with photocopies of their Aadhaar cards and passport size photographs, claiming he had contacts in the Collectorate who could facilitate the allotment of government houses. After receiving the money and documents, he allegedly prepared fake allotment orders bearing forged government seals and stamps and handed them over to the victims.
The investigation has revealed that more than 50 innocent people were allegedly cheated in the scam, with the accused collecting lakhs of rupees through false promises of securing government housing.
Police said the forged documents closely resembled official government allotment orders, making it difficult for victims to identify them as fake.
The operation was carried out by the Jubilee Hills Zone Task Force under the supervision of Inspector CH. Yadender, along with Sub-Inspector Muhammad Zahid and the Task Force team, in coordination with the Mughalpura Police.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine whether more people were involved in the racket and to identify additional victims.
