Police Modernization to Tackle Cybercrime and Drug Threats

A. Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana, has stressed the need to modernize the state’s police force to effectively combat emerging challenges such as cybercrime and narcotics trafficking. He said law enforcement agencies must adopt advanced technology, improved training, and better coordination to deal with increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

During a review meeting with senior officials, the Chief Minister highlighted the rapid growth of digital crimes, including online fraud, identity theft, and financial scams. He noted that stronger cyber investigation units and modern forensic tools are essential to track and prevent such offenses.

Reddy also emphasized the importance of intensified action against drug trafficking and organized crime. Authorities were asked to strengthen surveillance, intelligence sharing, and interstate coordination to curb the spread of narcotics.

The state government is expected to focus on upgrading police infrastructure, expanding cybercrime cells, and providing specialized training for officers. Officials believe these steps will help the police respond more quickly and effectively to evolving security threats while ensuring public safety across the state.
