In a major breakthrough, the Bandlaguda Police arrested a notorious house burglar and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth ₹10 lakh.
The action followed a complaint by Smt. Shawanaz Mirza, resident of Quba Colony, who reported a house theft. A case was registered under Cr. No. 306/2025 at Bandlaguda Police Station under Sections 305 and 331(4) BNS-2023.
During the investigation, police apprehended Mohammed Saleem, also known by aliases Sunil Shetty, Ibrahim, and Setty Saleem (52), resident of Ali Nagar, Balapur. Saleem is a well known house burglary offender with a history of involvement in over 150 burglary cases. He was previously detained under the Preventive Detention Act in 2018 (Kanchanbagh PS) and 2021 (Falaknuma PS) and was released from jail in August 2025 before resuming criminal activities.
Upon interrogation, Saleem confessed to three house burglary cases at Bandlaguda Police Station and one case at Balapur Police Station. Based on his confession, the police recovered:
- 10 tulas of gold ornaments
- 10 tulas of silver ornaments
The total estimated value of the recovered property is ₹10,00,000.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Addl. DCP Sri Srikanth, ACP Sri A. Sudhakar and SHO Sri R. Devender. SI Sri K. Yadaiah and the crime team were commended for their prompt and effective action.
Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Zone, Hyderabad City, praised the team for their diligence in swiftly apprehending a repeat offender and recovering stolen property.
The accused is currently in police custody and further investigation into other possible cases linked to him is ongoing.
