In a major breakthrough, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South East Zone, in coordination with IS Sadan Police, apprehended a six member interstate gang involved in a string of temple thefts, shutter liftings and vehicle thefts across Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates. The accused were arrested within just three days of committing their latest offences, and the police successfully recovered most of the stolen property.

According to police, the arrested include five adult offenders and one Child in Conflict with Law (CCL), all residents of Chinnapeta, Bhimavaram, in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. The prime accused, Juvvala Tharun Kumar Raju (A1), is a habitual offender with a staggering 41 previous cases to his name. Despite being released on bail recently, he regrouped with his old associates and resumed criminal activities in Hyderabad to evade police attention in his hometown.

  • A5: Konala Rajji, 18, Housewife and wife of A4
  • CCL: Juvenile, Resident of Chinnapeta, Bhimavaram

The police said the gang was involved in 12 offences including 4 Temple thefts, 6 Shutter liftings and 2 motorcycle thefts targeting various localities such as IS Sadan, Saroor Nagar, Saidabad, Begum Bazar, Sultan Bazar, LB Nagar, Hayath Nagar and Nandigama.

They initially stole two Bajaj Pulsar motorcycles and used them for subsequent burglaries. After committing the crimes, the gang would take refuge in a temporary shelter at Kammaguda, Nadargul, before fleeing back to Bhimavaram.

Based on credible information, police teams conducted vehicle checks near Four Temple, Champapet, on November 9, 2025 and apprehended the offenders. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to their crimes.

The police recovered ₹17,104 in cash, two stolen motorcycles, Four mobile phones and Burglary tools including iron rods, screwdrivers and spanners. The total value of recovered property is estimated at ₹4,00,000.

Officials lauded the swift coordination between the Task Force and IS Sadan Police for nabbing the accused within days. The arrests serve as a warning to habitual offenders operating across state borders, the police added.
