Three Arrested for Robbing in Vattepally

Mailardevpally Police have successfully detected a robbery case and arrested three accused persons involved in allegedly robbing an auto rickshaw driver at knifepoint in the Vattepally area of Hyderabad.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammed Mahaboob alias Baba (25), Mohammed Saddam alias Abdul Kaleem alias Khaleel (29) and Shaik Raheel (36). Police said another associate was also involved in the crime, and further investigation is underway.

According to investigators, the incident occurred during the early hours of June 20, 2026, near Guntal Sha Baba Dargah in Vattepally. The accused allegedly intercepted an auto rickshaw driver, threatened him with a knife and robbed him of his mobile phone and ₹1,600 in cash before fleeing the scene.

Following the complaint, Mailardevpally Police launched an investigation and gathered technical and field intelligence. Acting on credible information, police traced and apprehended the accused near Ayan Hotel, Vattepally, on June 24, 2026.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to their involvement in the robbery. Police officials stated that two of the accused, Mahaboob alias Baba and Saddam alias Khaleel, are rowdy sheeters of Mailardevpally Police Station and have previous criminal records.

Based on the confession and subsequent investigation, police recovered the stolen ₹1,600 cash, the victim’s mobile phone and the knife allegedly used in the robbery. Officers also seized two motorcycles and an additional mobile phone from the possession of the accused.

The arrested individuals are being produced before the court and will be remanded to judicial custody as per legal procedure. Police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the role of the fourth associate and determine whether the accused were involved in any other offences.

The case was detected by Inspector B. Satyanarayana, Sub-Inspector P. Vishwanath Reddy, and the staff of Mailardevpally Police Station through sustained investigation and coordinated field operations.

Police officials have described the swift arrest and recovery as a significant success in ensuring public safety and curbing street crimes in the area.
