Begumpet Police Nab Dacoity Gang Five Arrested Within 24 Hours

In a swift and well coordinated operation, the Begumpet Police cracked two dacoity cases within just 24 hours, arresting four accused and one Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) belonging to a six member gang involved in late night assaults and robberies near Parade Grounds and Clock Tower, Secunderabad.

The incidents occurred on the nights of November 2 and 3, 2025, when victims were attacked, threatened at knifepoint and robbed of cash, wristwatches and even forced mobile based money transfers.

The Modus Operandi

  • According to police reports, the gang members all residents of Mudfort, Sikh Village and Picket were habitual drinkers who frequently gathered at Central Wines, Bowenpally.
  • After consuming alcohol, they allegedly hatched plans to commit dacoities, targeting individuals travelling alone at night in deserted areas.
  • The gang used an auto rickshaw (TS13UD1633) owned and driven by one of the accused to commit both offences within Begumpet police limits.
  • Their assaults were violent and fast executed, using weapons like a knife and a knuckle duster to intimidate victims.

The Arrests

Acting on leads from CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, Begumpet Police swiftly identified and apprehended five members of the gang within 24 hours of the crimes.

One suspect, identified as Shiva, a resident of Mudfort, remains absconding.

Arrested Accused:

  1. Vannam Rajesh (18) Auto Driver, owner of the vehicle used in the crime
  2. Boya Narasimha (18) GHMC Worker
  3. Boorvathi Karthik (18) Labourer
  4. Parshuram (20) Labourer (knife recovered)
  5. One Child in Conflict with Law (minor)

Absconding:

Shiva, Resident of Mudfort, Secunderabad

  • ₹5,500 in cash
  • Auto TS13UD1633 used in the offence
  • Two mobile phones
  • Knife recovered from Parshuram
  • Knuckle duster recovered from Narasimha

Police Statement

  • Officials from the Begumpet Police Station confirmed that the operation was executed under the supervision of North Zone Police, ensuring swift justice within a day of the incidents.
  • The police credited effective teamwork, timely intelligence and public cooperation for the rapid breakthrough.
  • A senior officer remarked, “Such prompt arrests demonstrate that any act of violence or robbery within city limits will be met with immediate and decisive action.”

Authorities have urged citizens to remain alert while commuting at night, especially in low traffic areas.
Residents are advised to:

  • Avoid isolated or poorly lit areas.
  • Report suspicious movements or individuals immediately.
  • Use Dial 100 or 112 for emergency assistance.

Police have also encouraged commercial establishments to install high resolution CCTV cameras and maintain late night security presence around parking areas and streets.
