India Post and UTI Mutual Fund have strengthened their partnership to expand Know Your Customer (KYC) verification services across India, aiming to improve investor convenience and promote financial inclusion.

According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release dated October 29, 2026, the two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to extend their existing agreement at UTI Asset Management Company’s corporate office in Mumbai.

The MoU was signed by Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager, Parcel & CCS Directorate, Department of Posts, and Vetri Subramaniam, Managing Director and CEO of UTI Asset Management Company Limited.

KYC Verification at Investors Doorsteps

  • Under the Pan India KYC Verification Project, India Post will use its extensive postal network and last mile connectivity to facilitate KYC verification at investors doorsteps. The initiative is intended to benefit people living in remote and underserved areas, making the verification process more accessible and convenient.
  • KYC verification is an important requirement for establishing and verifying an investor’s identity when accessing financial services, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.

Building on Earlier KYC Initiatives

  • The expanded partnership builds on an earlier KYC remediation initiative that helped investors complete pending verification requirements, address documentation gaps and improve compliance.
  • The collaboration is expected to strengthen investor services, encourage wider participation in mutual funds and help investors maintain access to mutual fund investments by addressing outstanding KYC requirements.

Promoting Financial Inclusion

  • India Post’s extensive nationwide network is expected to play an important role in extending financial services to communities with limited access to such facilities. By bringing KYC verification closer to investors, the initiative aims to make financial services more accessible and customer friendly.
  • The partnership highlights the role of collaboration between public postal services and financial institutions in expanding access to investment related services across the country.
