Turkey School Shooting: 9 Dead, Students Flee in Panic

A tragic shooting at a school in Kahramanmaraş Province has left 9 people dead and 13 injured, officials said.

The attack happened on April 15, 2026, at Ayşer Çalık Middle School. According to Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, some of the injured are in serious condition.

What happened

The shooter was reportedly a student of the same school, around 13-14 years old. He brought guns in a backpack and started firing inside classrooms.

Students and teachers were caught off guard. Many students were seen climbing out of windows and running across the school grounds to save their lives. The scene was chaotic and frightening.

  • 13 people were injured, some seriously

After the attack

The attacker later died at the scene, and police are still investigating what exactly happened.

Authorities believe the weapons may have belonged to the boy’s father. He has been taken in for questioning.

After the incident, schools in the area have been closed for two days. Police and emergency teams rushed to help the injured, and security has been increased.

This shocking incident came just one day after another school shooting in Şanlıurfa Province, where 16 people were injured.
