Trump Calls for Wider Middle East Cooperation Through Abraham Accords

Abraham Accords were launched in 2020

U.S. President Donald Trump has once again expressed support for expanding the Abraham Accords, the diplomatic agreements aimed at improving relations between Israel and several Arab nations.

In recent public remarks and social media posts, Trump encouraged broader regional cooperation in the Middle East and said more countries should consider participating in normalization efforts with Israel as part of future peace and economic initiatives.

The Abraham Accords were first introduced in 2020 during Trump’s earlier administration and led to normalization agreements between Israel and countries including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. The agreements focused on diplomatic ties, trade, tourism, investment and security cooperation.

Trump’s latest comments sparked widespread discussion online after reports and social media posts claimed that several Muslim majority countries including Pakistan, Turkiye, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain could be part of an expanded version of the accords.

However, no official announcement has been made confirming that Pakistan or Turkiye are joining the Abraham Accords. Egypt and Jordan already have formal diplomatic relations with Israel through earlier peace treaties signed decades ago, while Bahrain is already a member of the accords.

Political analysts say the discussions reflect ongoing U.S. efforts to strengthen regional alliances and reshape Middle East diplomacy amid continuing tensions in Gaza, concerns over Iran and changing geopolitical dynamics.

At the same time, several Muslim majority countries, especially Saudi Arabia, have maintained that any broader normalization with Israel must include meaningful progress toward the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

The reports have triggered mixed reactions online. Supporters argue that stronger regional cooperation could improve stability, trade, and security in the Middle East, while critics say unresolved Palestinian issues remain a major obstacle to wider normalization efforts.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation of any new country formally joining the Abraham Accords following Trump’s latest remarks.
