Hyderabad has emerged as one of the poorest performing districts in Telangana in the digitisation of Enumeration Forms (EFs) under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, according to the latest status report released on July 18.
Despite achieving 100% distribution of Enumeration Forms to voters, Hyderabad has digitised only 17,76,189 forms out of its 47,36,669 registered electors, resulting in a digitisation rate of 37.50% the second lowest in the state. Only Medchal, Malkajgiri performed worse with a digitisation rate of 34.67%, while neighbouring Ranga Reddy recorded 46.25%.
Several other districts have performed significantly better. Yadadri Bhuvanagiri leads the state with 87.91% digitisation, followed by Siddipet (82.97%), Nalgonda (82.05%), and Rajanna Sircilla (80.31%).
Across Telangana, there are 3.38 crore registered voters. More than 2.14 crore Enumeration Forms have been digitised so far, taking the overall state digitisation rate to 63.30%.
The Election Commission has directed officials in Hyderabad and other slow performing districts to speed up the digitisation process and meet daily targets to ensure the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise is completed within the revised schedule.
