The Commissioner’s Task Force, Jubilee Hills Zone, in coordination with Banjara Hills Police, arrested three persons allegedly involved in the illegal sale of e-cigarettes and banned foreign cigarettes in Hyderabad.
The operation was conducted at “Smokers.in” in Srinagar Colony, where police reportedly seized 53 vapes, 10 bottles of vape liquid and 76 boxes of banned foreign cigarettes, with the total seized material estimated to be worth approximately ₹2 lakh.
Three Arrested
The arrested persons were identified as:
- Mohammed Muneer, 26
- Abdul Rahman Meehraj, 25
- Mohammed Eyas, 19
According to police, the accused were allegedly procuring banned foreign cigarettes from Mumbai and selling them in Hyderabad at higher prices to make illegal profits.
E-Cigarettes Prohibited in India
Police said the sale, manufacture, import, distribution, transport, storage and advertisement of electronic cigarettes are prohibited under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.
Authorities have been continuing enforcement against the illegal circulation of vapes and other prohibited tobacco products in Hyderabad.
Task Force Operation
The operation was carried out by Inspector Ch. Yadender of the Jubilee Hills Zone, Commissioner’s Task Force, along with SI Mohd Jahed and the Task Force team, in coordination with Banjara Hills Police.
The arrested persons and seized material were handed over to the concerned police for further legal action.
