EAGLE Force Busts International Hydroponic Cannabis Smuggling Network Linked to Thailand

Elite action against drug trafficking

In a major crackdown on international drug trafficking, the Telangana EAGLE Force has dismantled a sophisticated smuggling syndicate involved in the illegal transportation of Hydroponic Cannabis from Thailand to India. The operation exposed an extensive network of kingpins, coordinators, carriers and distributors operating across multiple states and international locations.

According to investigators, the syndicate exploited Thailand’s legal cannabis cultivation environment to procure high grade Hydroponic Cannabis. The contraband was allegedly smuggled into India through recruited carriers arriving at various international airports before being transported to Mumbai and distributed through a well established network of drug peddlers.

Authorities revealed that the proceeds generated from the illegal trade were routed back through hawala channels to finance and sustain the operation. The network reportedly employed sophisticated methods to evade detection, including frequently changing arrival airports and using a large number of carriers to transport narcotics.

Acting on intelligence inputs and through coordinated enforcement efforts, the EAGLE Force, along with Customs, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), and other agencies, arrested several key members of the syndicate. Investigators also uncovered evidence suggesting the involvement of nearly 300 carriers linked to the smuggling operation.

Officials stated that the case highlights the growing challenge of transnational narcotics trafficking and the increasing use of international routes to smuggle premium grade cannabis into India.

The EAGLE Force reiterated its zero tolerance policy against drug trafficking and emphasized its commitment to dismantling organized narcotics networks operating in Telangana and across the country. Authorities said further investigations are underway to trace additional suspects, identify financial networks supporting the operation, and apprehend absconding members of the syndicate.

Police also appealed to the public, particularly young people, to stay away from narcotic substances and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
