Hyderabad: The Attapur Police have arrested two habitual offenders in connection with the theft of a Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle and recovered five stolen two wheelers linked to multiple theft cases across the city.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Shahnawaz alias Shanu (18) and Mohd. Moiz Mohiuddin (18). Police said two other members of the group are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest them.
According to the investigation, the accused were part of an organized motorcycle theft gang that targeted unattended two wheelers during the night. The stolen vehicles were allegedly used for personal purposes or disposed of for financial gain to support what police described as a lavish lifestyle.
Police said that on June 25, the accused received information from one of their associates about an unattended Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle parked near Pillar No. 295, Shivarampally. They allegedly towed the motorcycle from the location and concealed it with the intention of disposing of it later.
Based on technical evidence and the voluntary confession of the arrested accused, investigators recovered the stolen Royal Enfield motorcycle along with four additional stolen two wheelers connected to theft cases registered at Attapur, Begum Bazar and Mailardevpally Police Stations. The recovery has helped police solve multiple property offence cases.
A case has been registered against all four accused under Sections 305(b), 3(5) and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are continuing their investigation to identify any additional offences linked to the gang and to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, along with senior officers of the Rajendranagar Zone and Attapur Police Station. The Commissioner of Police commended the investigating team for successfully solving the case and announced suitable rewards in recognition of their professional work.
