Hyderabad City Police conducted a flag march in the Goshamahal and Begum Bazar areas on Wednesday ahead of Ganesh Festival 2026 and the idol immersion processions.
The march was organised to strengthen security arrangements, maintain peace and communal harmony, and ensure smooth traffic movement during the festival.
The flag march was led by Golconda Zone DCP J. Raghavendar Reddy, along with Addl. DCP Krishna Goud, ACP Goshamahal K. Chandra Sekhar Reddy and police inspectors from Goshamahal and Begum Bazar police stations.
Personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF), along with staff from both police stations, also participated.
Flag March Route
- The march began at Nampally Exhibition Grounds and passed through several important and sensitive locations, including:
- Nampally Exhibition Grounds, Patel Nagar, Darussalam, Chaknawadi, Lambigally, Ghode Ki Khabar, Jhinsi Chowrai, Jummerath Bazar T-Junction, Owntwadi Mosque, Begum Bazar Chatri, Labour Adda, Seven Heaven Hotel, Goshamahal Police Station.
- Police said the march covered densely populated areas and important Ganesh procession routes to create awareness among residents and festival organisers about maintaining peace and following safety regulations.
Police Ask Organisers to Follow Rules
- Police appealed to Ganesh pandal organisers and procession participants to follow all instructions issued by the Police Department, including the prescribed procession routes and timings.
- Organisers were also asked to cooperate with police personnel and ensure that celebrations do not cause traffic blockages, inconvenience to the public or disturbance to communal harmony.
- Police appealed to citizens, religious organisations and Ganesh Utsav committees to celebrate the festival peacefully and responsibly.
Warning Against Rumours and Fake Information
- Police also advised the public not to believe or circulate unverified information, rumours or provocative content on social media.
- Citizens were asked to rely on information issued through official sources and immediately report any suspicious activity or law-and-order concerns to nearby police personnel or the nearest police station.
- The flag march concluded peacefully at Goshamahal Police Station, and police reported that there were no untoward incidents.
- Hyderabad City Police appealed to people from all communities to maintain peace, respect one another and cooperate with the police during Ganesh Festival 2026 and the immersion processions.
