The 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2026 will be conducted across Telangana on September 12, 2026 (Saturday), providing an opportunity for people to settle eligible disputes through mutual agreement and a faster legal process.
The Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) has made arrangements for the National Lok Adalat in the state following directions from the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi. The TSLSA has also requested the Telangana Government’s Public Cell to publicise information about the event for the benefit of the general public.
The September 12 session is part of the nationwide 2026 National Lok Adalat schedule. NALSA has scheduled four National Lok Adalats this year.
National Lok Adalat 2026 Dates
The four National Lok Adalats scheduled for 2026 are:
- 1st National Lok Adalat: March 14, 2026
- 2nd National Lok Adalat: May 9, 2026
- 3rd National Lok Adalat: September 12, 2026
- 4th National Lok Adalat: December 12, 2026
The schedule has also been published by several State Legal Services Authorities.
What is Lok Adalat?
Lok Adalat, commonly known as the People’s Court, is a legal mechanism that helps settle suitable disputes through compromise and mutual agreement. It can take up both cases already pending before courts and eligible pre-litigation matters.
The system aims to provide people with a quicker and less expensive way to resolve disputes while also helping reduce the workload of regular courts.
Which Cases Can Be Taken Up?
Depending on eligibility and the directions of the concerned legal services authority, matters that may be considered include:
- Motor accident claim cases
- Cheque dishonour cases
- Bank recovery matters
- Matrimonial and family disputes
- Civil disputes
- Compoundable criminal cases
- Labour related disputes
- Electricity and water bill disputes
- Certain traffic challan matters
- Other disputes that can legally be settled through compromise
Not every case is eligible for settlement through Lok Adalat. The concerned court or Legal Services Authority determines whether a matter can be taken up.
Benefits of Lok Adalat
- One of the major advantages is that eligible disputes can be resolved without going through lengthy court proceedings. No court fee is charged for proceedings before a Lok Adalat, and court fees already paid in a settled case may be refunded.
- When both parties reach an agreement, the Lok Adalat passes an award that is treated as a decree of a civil court and is generally final and binding on the parties.

- People with pending cases or eligible pre-litigation disputes should contact their District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Telangana State Legal Services Authority, concerned court or legal aid centre to check whether their matter can be included in the September 12 National Lok Adalat.
