Hyderabad: Attapur Police have arrested 25 year old Syed Mohammed, also known as Chango, in connection with a case involving alleged criminal trespass, threats with a knife and a demand for money.
According to police, Syed Mohammed, a centering labourer and auto driver and a resident of NTR Nagar, Hasan Nagar, Attapur, is a rowdy sheeter of Attapur Police Station. Police said he was already involved in several property, bodily and NDPS-related cases.
The incident reportedly took place on September 4, 2026, at around 8 pm. Police said the accused allegedly entered the house of the complainant, Noor Jahan Begum, and placed a knife against the throat of her son, Abdul Rehman.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly demanded Rs. 20,000 and threatened to kill Abdul Rehman if the money was not given. When Noor Jahan Begum attempted to protect her son, the accused allegedly threatened her with the knife and used abusive and obscene language.
Police said that when eyewitnesses at the scene tried to apprehend him, the accused fled from the spot.
The complainant later approached Attapur Police Station on September 13 and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Crime No. 997/2026 under Sections 308(4), 329(4) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 25(1)(A) of the Arms Act.
Arrest and Seizure
- Attapur Police, with assistance from the Rajendranagar Zone Task Force, launched an investigation after registration of the case.
- Police said the accused was arrested within 12 hours of the case being registered. Four knives and one mobile phone were reportedly seized from his possession.
- Following his arrest, Syed Mohammed was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
- The investigation is being conducted by Sub-Inspector Niranjan Mohammed Hussain under the supervision of SHO A. Seethaiah, Inspector of Police, Attapur Police Station.
Police said further investigation is underway.
