Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has warned that his party will stage a protest outside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s residence in New Delhi if the Congress government in Telangana fails to fulfil the promises made to the state’s youth before the Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, KTR accused the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, of failing to deliver on its commitment to provide two lakh government jobs. He alleged that less than 10,000 jobs have been filled in nearly two years, far below the promise made during the election campaign.
KTR also criticised the government’s handling of recruitment, claiming that despite around 20,000 vacancies in the Telangana Police Department, notifications have been issued for only about 7,000 posts. He said the promised annual job calendar had not been implemented and described it as a “Jobless calendar”
Referring to a recent suicide attempt by an unemployed youth in Khammam, KTR said the incident reflected the frustration among job seekers. He urged the Congress leadership to take responsibility for the delay in recruitment and fulfil the commitments made in the Youth Declaration. At the same time, he appealed to unemployed youth not to resort to extreme steps, assuring them that BRS would address the issue if it returns to power.
KTR further alleged that Rahul Gandhi speaks out on issues in opposition ruled states but remains silent on the concerns of Telangana’s youth under a Congress government. He also criticised the state’s performance in employment generation and ease of doing business since the change in government.
The Congress government has not yet issued an official response to KTR’s latest remarks.
