Hyderabad Police’s Charminar Zone Task Force, in coordination with Saifabad Police, arrested three persons for allegedly procuring and selling Mephentermine Sulphate Injections illegally in Hyderabad. The operation was carried out on July 29 following credible intelligence about the illegal drug trade.
The accused were intercepted near Shree Maruti Logistics, beside the HP Petrol Pump lane within the limits of Saifabad Police Station, while transporting the contraband on a Yamaha Aerox scooter.
During the operation, police seized 100 vials of Mephentermine Sulphate Injection (10 ml), one Yamaha Aerox scooter and three mobile phones. The total value of the seized property is estimated at around ₹4 lakh.
According to the investigation, the accused allegedly sourced the injections through a transporter from a supplier identified as Shakti Huda, a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The injections were reportedly being sold at inflated prices for illegal profit.
Police said Mephentermine is a prescription medicine that should only be used under medical supervision. Its illegal sale and misuse pose a serious risk to public health. Medical experts warn that misuse of the drug can lead to severe health complications, including high blood pressure, heart problems, cardiac arrest and other life threatening conditions.
Hyderabad Police urged the public, especially young people, to avoid using stimulant medicines without a valid prescription and advised citizens to report any illegal drug related activities to the authorities.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector S. Saidababu of the Charminar Zone Task Force, with support from Sub-Inspectors M. Madhu, K. Rama Rao, M. Mahesh, Police Constable K. Santosh Kumar, the Charminar Zone Task Force team, and personnel from Saifabad Police Station.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others involved in the illegal drug supply network.
