New Delhi: Student protests linked to the CJP continued on Thursday, with fresh demonstrations held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and renewed demands for the withdrawal of all cases filed against student protesters.
Students from several Left backed organisations gathered at Jantar Mantar, demanding the release of detained students and alleging that student protests are being criminalised. Protesters said they would continue their agitation until all cases against students are withdrawn.
The Delhi government has announced that it will not pursue legal action against most participants of the July 20 “Chalo Sansad” protest. However, the relief does not apply to individuals with previous criminal records, who will continue to face legal proceedings.
CJP leaders welcomed the government’s decision but said it was only a partial relief. They demanded the complete withdrawal of FIRs and legal cases against all student protesters, warning that the movement could return to the streets if their demands are not met.
In Bihar, CJP leaders also urged the state government to withdraw cases against students, alleging that some protesters continue to face police action despite earlier assurances. The organisation said it would continue peaceful protests until all detained students are released and pending cases are dropped.
The student movement began over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and has since expanded into a wider campaign demanding transparency, accountability, and protection of students rights. The issue has become a major political debate, drawing reactions from both the ruling party and the Opposition.
