Hyderabad Police have busted an interstate ganja trafficking racket and arrested four people, including a juvenile, during a joint operation carried out by the Charminar Zone Task Force and Abids Police. The operation took place near Haj House in Nampally on July 2 following credible intelligence about the movement of narcotics.
During the raid, police seized 23 kilograms of dry ganja, two mobile phones, and ₹7,000 in cash. The total value of the seized contraband is estimated at around ₹12 lakh.
According to the investigation, the accused are natives of Parbhani district in Maharashtra and had allegedly been involved in transporting ganja from the agency areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra for the past six months.
Police said the ganja was reportedly sourced from a supplier in the Araku region and transported through Hyderabad before being delivered to buyers in Maharashtra. The accused had travelled from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad by train and were waiting near Haj House, Nampally, to board a private bus to Maharashtra when they were intercepted by the police.
Officials said the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence and prevented a large quantity of narcotics from reaching the illegal market. Police have identified the alleged supplier and intended receivers, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining members of the network.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress to uncover the full extent of the interstate drug trafficking operation.
