Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that any “complete” ceasefire agreement must include the full lifting of the United States naval blockade on Iranian ports, describing the current situation as unacceptable under ongoing pressure.
In remarks reflecting Tehran’s position, Ghalibaf stated that Iran will not accept negotiations or agreements conducted under what he called “bullying” or coercion. He added that continued restrictions on Iranian maritime activity are incompatible with a genuine ceasefire framework.
Iranian officials have repeatedly argued that the naval blockade is part of broader pressure tactics against the country, while insisting that any lasting ceasefire must address what they describe as violations and restrictions imposed during the conflict period.
The comments come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing disputes over maritime security in strategic waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy supplies.
Diplomatic efforts remain uncertain, with both sides maintaining firm positions on sanctions, security arrangements, and maritime access, even as calls continue for de-escalation and a negotiated settlement.
