The Telangana Legislative Assembly’s Monsoon Session is set to begin on Monday, September 7, with several important political and public issues expected to come up for discussion.
The ruling Congress and opposition parties, including BRS and BJP, are expected to debate issues related to Governance, Development, Land registrations and the implementation of election promises.
Major issues likely to be discussed
- Section 22-A land issues:
Opposition parties are expected to raise concerns over properties included in the prohibited list under Section 22-A of the Registration Act. The issue has already led to protests in several areas. - Government performance:
The opposition is likely to question the Congress government over its election promises and performance. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has said his government is ready to discuss the issues in the Assembly. - CURE Bill:
The Assembly is expected to consider the CURE Bill, aimed at modernising municipal administration in areas around the Outer Ring Road. - Election age proposal:
The government is also expected to move a resolution seeking to reduce the minimum age for contesting Lok Sabha and Assembly elections from 25 to 21 years. The proposal would be sent to the Union Government for consideration.
