Hyderabad Traffic Police registered 445 drunken driving cases during a two day special enforcement drive conducted on March 6 and March 7, 2026, as part of efforts to improve road safety across the city.
According to officials, the drive targeted motorists driving under the influence of alcohol at several key junctions and busy roads across Hyderabad. Traffic police teams carried out extensive checks using breath analysers to identify offenders.
Out of the 445 drivers booked, the majority were two wheeler riders, accounting for 377 cases. In addition, 22 three wheeler drivers and 46 drivers of four wheelers and other vehicles were also found driving under the influence of alcohol during the operation.
Officials stated that strict action will be taken against violators and reiterated that there will be zero tolerance for drunken driving, which continues to be one of the major causes of road accidents.
The traffic police also urged commuters and motorists to cooperate with authorities and follow traffic rules to ensure safer roads for everyone. They added that similar special enforcement drives will continue in the coming days to curb drunk driving and promote responsible driving habits across the city.
