Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner Sri A.V. Ranganath Garu has announced that joint field inspections will be conducted across the city to check compliance with fire safety norms. The inspections will be carried out by teams from HYDRAA, GHMC, Fire Services, Revenue and the Electrical Department.
The Commissioner said that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating fire safety rules. He stressed that negligence in fire safety measures poses a serious risk to human life and property and will not be tolerated.
As part of the drive, authorities will inspect commercial complexes, residential buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, schools, and other public places to ensure that fire safety equipment and escape routes are in proper condition.
Public Asked to Report Violations
To strengthen enforcement, the HYDRAA Commissioner urged citizens to actively participate by reporting fire safety violations. The public can send videos or photographs of unsafe buildings or blocked fire exits directly to the HYDRAA control room at 9000113667.
“These reports will be verified and appropriate action will be taken under the law,” he said, adding that public cooperation is essential to prevent accidents and save lives.
Focus on Prevention
Officials said the inspections will focus on checking:
- Availability and working condition of fire extinguishers
- Clear emergency exits and staircases
- Proper electrical wiring
- Fire alarms and water systems
- Compliance with building safety norms
The Commissioner emphasized that fire safety is not just the responsibility of authorities but also of building owners and occupants. He warned that repeated violations could lead to sealing of premises or cancellation of licenses.
Citywide Safety Drive
The initiative comes amid growing concern over fire incidents in urban areas and aims to improve preparedness and reduce risks. Authorities said the joint inspection drive will continue in phases across Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
Residents have been advised to remain alert and immediately report unsafe conditions to help prevent disasters before they occur.
