A tragic bus accident near Makkah, Saudi Arabia, has claimed the lives of 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims, with Several victims confirmed to be residents of Hyderabad, including areas such as Moosrambagh and Bazarghat (Mallepally). The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting immediate intervention from Telangana leaders.
On Tuesday, Malakpet MLA Ahmed Balala, Nampally MLA Majid Hussain and senior AIMIM leadership met the grieving families in Moosrambagh, offering condolences and assuring every possible measure of support.
The visit took place Under the guidance of AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi who has also been closely tracking the situation and liaising with authorities.
MLA Ahmed Balala’s Immediate Response
Following the confirmation of multiple deaths, MLA Ahmed Balala stated:
“A very unfortunate accident took place in Saudi Arabia where several pilgrims lost their lives. We have spoken with the authorities and the Haj Committee Chairman to ensure immediate support from the Telangana State Government. Arrangements are being made to help the bereaved families travel to Makkah for the final rites.”
In a humanitarian gesture, MLA Balala has arranged travel for three family members to Makkah at his own expense, with departures planned tonight or by early tomorrow morning.
MLA Majid Hussain Joins Relief Efforts
Nampally MLA Majid Hussain has also stepped in to support the families, coordinating with Local officials, Community representatives and Umrah agencies to ensure smooth documentation and communication with authorities in Saudi Arabia.
He reiterated that AIMIM stands firmly with the affected families during this tragedy.
Most Victims Believed to Be Telangana Residents
According to preliminary updates from officials and community members, a significant number of the deceased pilgrims were from Hyderabad, travelling through local Umrah operators. Several families from Moosrambagh, Mallepally and Surrounding areas have already received confirmation of their relatives’ deaths.
Telangana Government Assures Full Support
The Telangana State Government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has assured full assistance to all families from the state affected by the tragedy.
The Chief Minister has:
- Directed the Chief Secretary and DGP to collect complete details of all Telangana origin victims
- Initiated coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Saudi authorities
- Set up a Special control room at the Telangana Secretariat
- Released helpline numbers for families seeking information
Officials have emphasized that all support from documentation to repatriation procedures and travel assistance will be provided.
