A local court in Hyderabad has sentenced Bathula Vinod Kumar (38), a resident of Balamrai, Begumpet, to three years of imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000 for sexually harassing a woman in his neighborhood. The verdict highlights the judiciary’s continued zero tolerance stance toward crimes against women.
According to police officials, Vinod Kumar had been continuously harassing the victim through unwanted comments and inappropriate advances. Despite repeated warnings, the harassment persisted, prompting the victim to file a formal complaint with the Begumpet Police Station.
After registering a case under Section 354A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which deals with sexual harassment the police conducted a detailed investigation, collecting both witness statements and digital evidence to substantiate the allegations.
Upon examining the evidence, the court found Bathula Vinod Kumar guilty and imposed a sentence of three years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹5,000.

Officials from the Begumpet Police stated that this case serves as a reminder that harassment in any form physical, verbal or digital will attract strict legal action. The Hyderabad Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring women’s safety through initiatives like “She Teams”, which are active across the city to monitor and respond to harassment cases.
