Telangana Director General of Police C. V. Anand, IPS, inaugurated and launched a series of digital initiatives of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Chief Office in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The initiatives aim to improve police service delivery, strengthen investigations, enhance transparency and promote citizen friendly policing.
The programme was attended by senior police officials, including DG Law and Order Mahesh Bhagwat, CID DG Charu Sinha, PCS ADGP Akun Sabharwal, IG (P&L) Gajarao Bhupal and other senior officers.
Six Key Digital Initiatives
- Citizen Feedback Centre (CFC)
The Citizen Feedback Centre has been established to collect direct feedback from citizens who have recently used police services. These include filing petitions and FIRs, accessing e-Challan services and obtaining passport verification.
The initiative aims to assess public satisfaction and improve accountability and service quality. - Bharosa Software
Developed by the Women Safety Wing of Telangana Police, Bharosa Software is a digital case management platform connecting all 35 Bharosa Centres through a unified digital case file.
It tracks a survivor’s journey from initial contact to case closure, covering registration, counselling, medical assistance, legal support and rehabilitation. The platform replaces paper based registers with live statewide dashboards and provides 23 standard reports on demand. - Official CID Website
The official website of CID Telangana has been made available to the public as part of the department’s digital transformation and modernisation efforts.

Telangana Police has developed a digital system by integrating the National Informatics Centre’s (NIC) e-Prisons platform with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS).
The system, referred to in the press note as the Jail Release Surveillance System (JRSS), enables automated monitoring of prisoner releases, SMS alerts to concerned police stations and officers, statewide dashboards, AI-based analytics and prisoner search facilities.
Automated data synchronisation and crime classification are intended to support investigations, help identify criminal networks and strengthen intelligence driven policing. - Mobile Face Search App
The Android based Mobile Face Search application uses a database containing more than 9.8 lakh photographs to deliver facial matching results in approximately 15 seconds.
It is designed to assist police personnel in field verification and in identifying suspects, deceased persons, unidentified bodies and missing persons. - Standard Operating Procedures for Investigations
The DGP also released five volumes of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guide investigating officers and improve the quality and consistency of criminal investigations.
The volumes cover:
- Bodily Offences
- Property Offences
- Crimes Against Women and Children
- Special and Local Laws
- Other Offences
The procedures are intended to strengthen investigative practices and improve the prospects of securing convictions in criminal cases.
Focus on Technology Driven Policing
- The six initiatives represent a step towards technology driven policing in Telangana. They aim to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in public services while providing police personnel with digital tools and standardised procedures.
- Through these initiatives, Telangana Police seeks to strengthen public trust, improve support for survivors and citizens and enhance investigative capabilities across the state.
- The department reiterated its commitment to citizen friendly policing, transparency and continuous improvement in public service delivery.
